Steering the way
The steering group for the Girlguiding UK SWITCH Up project, which decides how thousands of pounds will be allocated to youth projects, held their first meeting on 1 September at Commonwealth Headquarters (CHQ), London. Group member Michelle Farrington, an Assistant Leader from Manchester and Chair of the North West England Panel, reports on the meeting.
‘The SWITCH Up Steering Group comprises of the Chairs of six Regional SWITCH Youth Panels. It meets every six months to assess progress and to develop ideas.
We spent a weekend creating a new national application form, as well as discussing how to market SWITCH.
We also designed a pack for successful grant applicants.
It’s very empowering to know that the panel’s work affects people in your local area, and the direction of SWITCH overall.’
