SWITCH Up provides funding for guiding and non-guiding groups to help girls and young women aged ten to 25 participate in opportunities that otherwise may not be possible for them.
Grants of up to £2000 are available to individuals and groups who are socially or economically excluded. These include those affected by issues such as:
- rural isolation
- urban poverty
- areas with high levels of crime
- low income
- poor public services and facilities including transport.
Six regional youth panels decide where grants are given. The chairs of the panel also act as the project's steering group to advise and monitor its progress.
